MSI P965 NeoベースのマシンにLinuxをインストールする

実験のためTsukumoからeX.computer Aero Stream B30J-6360E2を買いました.最新機種なのですが,最近Linuxの進展も著しくて大丈夫だと思いました.実際にインストールしてみると,案外にトラブルが発生してしまい,いろいろネットで調べてなんとか(意外に簡単?)できましたのでここでメモしておきます.

問題がマザーボード MSI P965 Neo に関わっています.実は,Ubuntu Linux(6.06も6.10 betaも)は起動しません.RIP LinuxやCent OS 4.4は起動しますが,CDドライブが見つかりませんでした.これは,JMicron製のIDEチップJMB361のドライバーが原因なのです.起動時に all-generic-ide というカーネルオプションを付けると大丈夫のはずです(が,Ubuntuだけはやはりだめでした.See also http://www.ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=233540).

結局 Cent OS 4.4をインストールしました(/boot/grub/menu.lstにあるカーネルオプションに all-generic-ideをつけないで起動する kernel panic が出るぞ).しかしネットカードは認識されません.なんでやろう???.(続く)
